Why is my liquid latex prosthetic repelling all makeup?

I made a liquid latex prosthetic on my friend for halloween that i was planning to glue back on on the day, and every type of makeup i try on it is repelled. same as fake blood. the makeup wont spread on it and just clumps up in crevices and the blood is repelled and goes into little bubbles. The makeup and blood work fine on the skin around the prosthetic though and give it a defined out line and it looks stupid.
Please help.
