Question by Katie: How advanced were prosthetic limbs in the 17th Century?
I’m thinking about writing a story that takes place in the late 1600s. In the story in question, one of the main protagonists has a prosthetic arm. Since I want the story to be as believable as possible, I’m wondering how advanced artificial limbs were during that time. I’ve seen pictures of artificial limbs that date to that century, which were constructed from iron, but it’s never clear if those type of limbs were advanced enough to enable movement in the fingers and joints. Can anyone help me?

Question by rhea !: Where can you buy a prosthetic finger locally in NJ?
My dad recently lost two tips of his fingers due to an accident with the lawn mower. Now, we are looking for prosthetic fingers to replace the two finger tips that are lost. If you can provide any information for prosthetic fingers or where we can buy any locally in NJ, it would help a lot.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Rhea,
You’d be better off asking the same question in the ‘Other – Health’ section I think. Alternative medicine can’t really provide an answer for you, and you’ll just get people trying to tell you that their magic herb will grow his fingers back.
Good luck with your search
